KARACHI: Old cops called back

KARACHI, May 2: The police officials, who took part in the operation against terrorists and criminals during Nawaz Sharif tenure, have been called back and posted at various places in the city, especially in district central.

These officials were transferred to the interior of the province after the Nawaz government was removed in October 1999.

These police officials have been posted as SHOs in Liaquatabad, Supermarket, New Karachi and other police stations. Their posting has not yet been announced officially as some other postings are being considered.

Sources said Inspector Mohammad Sarwar Khan (Sarwar Commando) has been posted as SHO Supermarket, Inspector Nasirul Hasan as SHO Liaquatabad and Inspector Taufeeq Zahid as SHO New Karachi. Inspector Ghazanfar Kazmi and Baharuddin Babar have also been called back and they are awaiting for a posting.

DIG Karachi Tariq Jamil confirmed the posting of DSP Aslam Khan, known as Chaudhry Aslam. Mr Aslam has been posted as DSP Nazimabad and Irfan Bahadur son of Inspector Bahadur Ali has been posted as DSP Liaquatabad.
