KARACHI: Two held for street crimes in Defence

KARACHI, June 8: Police on Sunday arrested two suspects involved in dozens of street crimes in different parts of the city and seized stolen money and arms from them.

A Defence police party, on a tip-off raided a house in Defence Phase-II near a Muslim Commercial Bank branch and arrested gang leader Rehan alias Gunja and his accomplice Athar and seized two TT pistols, two magazines, nine rounds, Rs50,000 and a car from their possession.

Police claimed that the suspects were involved in dozens of street crimes and had looted banks and money changers. They had served jail terms many times.

Police also claimed that Rehan Gunja was the leader of this street crime gang.

During initial interrogation, the suspects confessed to involvement in street crimes and looting of banks and money changers.

They also confessed that the money recovered by police from them was also snatched from a man outside a bank in Khayaban-i-Ittehad.—PPI
