MIRPURKHAS: Probe into police raid

MIRPURKHAS, May 27: Statements of over one dozen police officials, who took part in a raid on a gambling den in SRTC colony, have been recorded by the inquiry officer.

DPO Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh had ordered the inquiry after reports about disappearance of hundreds of thousands of rupees, some gold rings and 35 mobile phones recovered from the gamblers.

A week ago, a heavy contingent of police, led by SHO Bhooromal Khatri, raided a gambling den in SRTC colony on Sindhri road, apprehended 21 gamblers and reportedly recovered hundreds of thousands of rupees, some gold rings and 35 mobile phones.

Later, a case was registered by the Old Mirpur police which showed recovery of Rs2,5000 cash only.

On the complaints, the DPO ordered an inquiry and appointed inspector Mehboob Baloch as inquiry officer.—Correspondent
