LAHORE, May 21: The Punjab government has surrendered 23 DMG and police officers to the federal government after declaring them surplus.
Those declared surplus are: 14 BS-20 DMG officers, and four BS-19 and five BS-18 police officers.
Officials said on Wednesday that surplus officers had been sent to the centre because they were blocking the promotions of as many juniors.
These officers have not been surrendered because of any new policy decision but in pursuance of an establishment division direction sent five months ago to create room for promotions.
They said the establishment division also wanted to rotate DMG and police officers in all provinces to provide them all Pakistan working experience.
“We are sending surplus officials to the center for posting them in other provinces for vacant posts of the same ranks. Those working in other provinces will be adjusted in Punjab on the available vacancies,” a senior official said.
The DMG officers include: Zakat secretary Tauqir Ahmad Faiq, Home Department‘s special secretary Azam Saleem, Social Development Initiative’s project director Mubashar Raza, Public Libraries director-general Imtiaz Tajwar, Punjab Education Foundation‘s managing director Allah Bakhsh Malik, former Gujranwala DCO Athar Hussain Khan Sial, Agriculture Marketing Department’s special secretary Muhammad Azhar, former I&C secretary Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera, OSDs Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Arif Khan, Capt Agha Nadeem (retired), Maj Shakeel (retired) and Ahmad Yar, and Punjab Rural Support Programme’s project director Javaid Ahmad.
The BS-19 police officers are: Iftikhar Hussain Tarar, Khan Gull, Capt Amil Shamim Wyne and Munir Ahmad Chishti.
While the BS-18 police officers are: Manzar Abbas Zaidi, Nizam Shahid Durrani, Suleiman Sultan Rana, Mehboob Aslam and Muhammad Nawaz.
