KHANEWAL, May 20: Perhaps taking a cue from recent public reaction against criminals in Karachi and Lahore, the crew and passengers of a bus on Tuesday thrashed two would-be robbers before handing them over to police near Mianchannu bypass.

Reports said two outlaws on a motorcycle (KWD-5824) intercepted a bus (LRC-1182) near Mianchannu bypass at gun point. As soon as the driver stopped the bus, the robbers tried to harass the passengers with a gunshot, but the weapon malfunctioned.

Sensing the situation, the passengers and crew alighted from the bus and started thrashing the outlaws, leaving them badly injured. Later, they were handed over to police who were on a routine patrol.

The robbers were identified as Khalil Ahmad and Waheed Raza, both matriculates.

An officer at Mianchannu city police station said the matter was being investigated and no case had been registered so far. — Correspondent
