LAHORE, May 19: Governor Salman Taseer said on Monday that his appointment was not meant to accomplish any agenda.

“I want to clarify that I have not come to fulfill any agenda. My agenda is only to promote democracy and serve people of Punjab”, he said while talking to senior journalists at the Governor’s House.

Taseer said he had no personal differences with any one and was ready to talk to the PML-N leadership for the promotion of democracy in the country.

He said the country was facing a number of crises and any difference among the coalition partners could be harmful for democracy.

He lauded PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for forming the coalition government by forgetting their past differences. “This step of both the leaders will help strengthen democracy in the country,” he observed.

He advised both the parties to resolve their issues through mutual consultation.

Answering a question, Salman Taseer said that he was ready to go to Raiwind to meet Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif as he held nothing personal against them. —APP
