SAHIWAL, May 11: The district police have introduced a new squad that will patrol city roads in two shifts.

Thirty 125CC motorbikes have been given to 125 officials.

The 30 mobile squads on Saturday started patrolling 15 localities in the city. According to district police officer Tariq Abbas, the main purpose of the squad is to combat the increasing incidence of crime in the city. The DPO said each beat movement would be supervised by a sub-inspector under a central control system. Each shift report would be given to the DPO on a daily basis.

“Their duty is to remain mobile within their beat area. Fifteen beats have been selected. They are not allowed to sit or stand during their eight-hour duty,” the DPO said.
