KASUR, May 9: The Pakistan Paediatric Association says the failure of anti-polio campaign in Pakistan is the outcome of the lack of sense of responsibility and commitment.

Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf Sultan, president of PPA’ s Punjab chapter, said Pakistan, despite vaccinating its children on a number of occasions since 1992, had not been able to control the disease.

He said Pakistan should consult experts around the globe to trace out factors failing its anti-polio campaign.

The professor said the maintenance of cold chain after procuring the vaccine from the manufacturer was vital.

According to his observation, he said, vaccinators seldom realized their responsibility owing to the absence of any attractive incentive.

He said the same team of vaccinators prepared a record to show it to the government and the donors, a practice which could not be trusted.

He urged the government to manage separate teams for vaccination and for the maintenance of record for the success of the anti-polio campaign.
