KARACHI, May 3: International sailor Ashfaq Iqbal of Pakistan Navy emerged as the new champion when he won the National Laser Radial sailing championship, which concluded at the PAF Korangi Creek on Saturday.

He accumulated 11 penalty points to top the fleet of 13 boats in the three-day regatta.

International Mohammad Yousuf, the defending champion, of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was beaten to second place with 12 penalty points.

The third position went to international Aamir Nawaz of Pakistan Navy who secured 15 penalty points.

A total of nine races were conducted with two discard allowed.—Sports Correspondent
