SUKKUR April 30: Two kidnapped women and a minor girl as well as a woman, who had married against the wish of her family, were handed over to their relatives on Wednesday in Ubauro to prevent escalation of conflict between Shar and Bhutto tribes in Ubauro.

On Monday a group of armed men, believed to be Bhuttos, raided Khamiso Shar village, opened indiscriminate fire and kidnapped Ms Latifan, Ms Kariman Shar and the seven-year old Farzana.

In retaliation, the Shars raided a Bhutto village and restored to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons which was returned by the Bhuttos. As a result of gun battle, at least two men lost their lives.

According to the area people, Shar and Bhutto tribesmen were at war for the last one year over a piece of land and tension ran high when a girl Guddi, daughter of Buland Bhutto, eloped with Din Mohammad Shar and married him of her own free will three months ago.

The Bhuttos were not happy with this marriage and demanded of the Shars to return the girl.

Sensing gravity of the situation, influential people of the area intervened. On Wednesday, Guddi, Latifan, Kariman and Farzana were handed over to Mian Abdul Khalique of Bharchundi who later handed them over to their relatives.

However, an uneasy calm prevailed in the troubled area and armed men from Bhuttos and Shars have taken position in trenches.
