SAHIWAL, April 22: At least 200 people from Thekri Pahra village staged a sit-in on Muhammadpur Road for two hours in protest against Harrapa police’s ‘inefficiency’.
The protesters said they called police to arrest about 12 robbers who were looting people on Muhammadpur Road on Monday night. They said they themselves had to take up arms against the robbers when the police did not come to their help. The police reached the crime scene about three hours after the incident. The robbers fled, leaving the booty behind.
"They snatched our cell phones, watches and cash," Muhammad Yasin, Ishaq and Hanif told this correspondent at the crime scene.
Village representative Wali Dad said robberies in his locality were a routine and that the police had left them at the mercy of robbers.
