Refugee dies of Congo virus

QUETTA, April 24: A 30-year-old Afghan refugee, identified as Fareed Khan, died of Congo virus in Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital on Tuesday, hospital sources confirmed.

The man, who belonged to the Kandoz province in Northern Afghanistan, was brought to the hospital, with his nose and mouth bleeding, some two weeks ago from a refugee camp.

The sources said another patient Ahmed was still under treatment in the same hospital, while two other Afghan refugees, Nazar Mohammad and Gul Bibi, were discharged after complete cure.

During last one-and-a-half year, they said, over 80 victims of this deadly virus were brought to the hospital from different areas of the province, out of which over 12 patients died.
