PARIS, April 18: Roger Federer will return to the Swiss team for the Davis Cup World Group play-off against Belgium in September, the world number one confirmed on Thursday.

“I have decided that I will play the Davis Cup tie this September against Belgium,” Federer told his official website.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help Switzerland, along with my team-mates, get back into the World Group for the 2009 season,” he added.

Switzerland defeated Belarus 4-1 in Kreuzlingen to reach the play-offs but Federer skipped the match to concentrate on his preparations for the ATP clay court event in Estoril.—AFP
