Members boycott council session

MIRPURKHAS, April 16: At least 13 members of the Umerkot district council boycotted its meeting on Tuesday and took out a rally against registration of cases against two UC nazims who had protested manhandling of Arbab Ghulam Rahim in the Sindh Assembly.

A member Faqir Ramzan Rajar raised a point of order and said that two members of the council namely Malook Samejo and Shaukat Nohri were booked in cases.

They were accused of taking out rally against manhandling of Arbab Ghulam Rahim in Sindh Assembly.

On that, 13 members staged a walk out from the session and boycotted the proceedings. The members, including Dr Ruby Dharamdas, Ramzan Rajar, Malook Samejo, Dharamdas Bethlani, Ghulam Mohammad Maher and others took out a rally from the district council building to Press club.

Speaking on the occasion Ramzan Rajar said that notables, including two district council members, were booked out of sheer revenge. They demanded of the concerned authorities to look into the matter and restore justice.

ARRESTS: Four alleged criminals were arrested by police late on Tuesday night.

On a tip off, heavy contingent of police picked-up Liaquat Shah, resident of Pak Colony and Rashid and Amir, resident of Karachi from Hyderabad railway crossing.
