Two shot dead; clinic looted

RAWALPINDI, April 11: Two people, including a widow, were shot dead in separate incidents in the city, police said on Friday.

Asad Abbas was on his way home from a market in Gulraiz Colony when some unidentified persons shot him dead late Thursday night.

Manzoor Hussain, the brother of the deceased, told the Airport police that his family became concerned about Asad when he did not return for a long time. Manzoor went out in the street to look for his brother and found him lying dead. He said his brother did not have enmity with anybody.

Rashida Bibi, 45, a widow residing in Kotli Sattian, was shot dead by some unidentified persons in her house late Thursday night.

Police said after the death of her second husband, Iftikhar Ahmed, Rashida settled in Kotli Sattian where she was found killed in her house on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, a private clinic on Saidpur Road was raided by a gang of four robbers, who snatched cash and gold ornaments from patients and doctor, and escaped.

Police said the robbers entered Al-Samad Clinic Friday night and at gunpoint ordered the patients and the doctors to give up cash and other valuables.

The robbers escaped with cash, mobile phones and other valuables snatched from the people.

Mohammad Kashif’s car (RLF-669) was stolen from the Airport police area, Khalid Shah’s car (KG-7814) was stolen from Wah Cantonment, while Abdal Akbar’s car (RLF-5986) was taken away by thieves from Westridge.house looted: Robbers shot and injured a man and looted cash, gold ornaments and electronic goods in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Friday.

Robbers entered the house of Afzal Cheema in F-11/3, who is settled in Germany, in the wee hours of Thursday and held his family hostage for over five hours.

They looted Rs200,000 in cash, four cellphones, four watches, 15 tola gold jewellery and a car (LRG-271) and fled.
