KARACHI: Cases registered against ‘unknown culprits’

KARACHI, April 10: Police have registered cases against unknown culprits for the killing of eight people in Wednesday’s violence.

Risala police registered an FIR (78/08) for the killing of six people who were burnt alive in Tahir Plaza near the City Courts. They also registered another FIR (77/08) against unknown culprits for torching nine vehicles in the area.

Preedy police registered two cases for the killing of two people and torching of three vehicles in its police limits.

All these cases were registered on behalf of the state.

Meanwhile, Brigade police registered the murder case (FIR 72/08) of a minibus driver on the complaint of the victim’s brother. The police also registered another FIR on behalf of the state over torching of two vehicles in their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors headed by the police surgeon collected DNA samples of the charred bodies in the Edhi morgue.

“Since the bodies are not identifiable and all the tissues have burnt out, we have taken samples from bones, blood and teeth for DNA tests,” Dr Bashir Shaikh told Dawn.

The team of doctors comprising Dr Rashda, Dr Sarwar and Dr Imran collected the samples from the bodies and handed them over to the investigation officer of the case who is supposed to send them for DNA tests.
