HYDERABAD, April 22: A large number of the activists of the Jamaat-i-Islami, women wing, staged a silent protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday.

They carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the excessive utility bills, massacre of the innocent Palestinians, and inordinate increase in the prices of medicines.

They also rejected the ensuing presidential referendum.

The protest was led by Shahnaz Baqai and Rukhsana Tanveer.

Earlier on Sunday, the JI, Hyderabad chapter, staged a protest demonstration at the Bacha Khan Chowk here to protest the arrests of their party leaders.

Speaking at the rally, the chief of the JI Hyderabad, Shaikh Shoukat Ali, said that referendum should be held on the presence of American forces in Pakistan.
