HYDERABAD, April 3: The DCO has declared emergency in Wasa, HDA and government hospitals and directed the managements concerned to make sure the presence of their staff and relevant machinery in working order in field because of rain forecast by the Metrological Department.
DCO Syed Barkat Rizvi directed this while presiding over a meeting regarding rain emergency measures at Shahbaz Hall here Thursday.
He said that due to the laying of an efficient sewerage system by the district government, the rain flood situation as happened in past years would not be experienced again by the citizens.
He said, however, preventive measures were required to be taken to meet heavy downpour or thunder storm to minimize losses that might happen.
He directed the management of Wasa to prepare a contingency plan to meet rain emergency and to ensure that all pumping stations with provision of standby generators and dewatering machines are in working condition.
He also directed that main nullahs and sewerage lines be cleansed and desilted through machines or manual means.
He also directed the EDO, CDD, EDO education, managing director Wasa, district officer revenue and TMOs of the district to establish control rooms within their offices and keep close coordination with all sister organisations.
The Hyderabad DCO also directed the Building Control Department of HDA to approach the people living in unsafe buildings and convince them to shift to safer places especially during strong thunderstorm.
The DCO has directed the TMOs of all talukas of the district to prepare a strategy for removal of billboards and signboards, trimming of trees and removal of wild bushes from their areas so that chances of accidents could be minimised.
He stressed upon the Hesco management to ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially to pumping stations, during the rain emergency.
The DCO also formed sub-committees comprising EDO CDD and EDO education for establishment of relief camps with all required facilities, in case of emergency, for providing shelter to rain victims and EDO health for making provision for providing health cover to the rain victims if any at the major hospitals of the city.
Mr Barkat Rizvi while lauding foolproof measures made by the management concerned during last year stressed for working with same spirit to ensure efficient delivery to the citizens of Hyderabad.
Managing Director of Wasa Bashir Awan, EDO education, EDO CDD, DO revenue, all DDOs (revenue) and mukhtiarkars, representatives from health, Hesco and other departments attended the meeting.
