Robber killed in firing by accomplice

GUJRANWALA, March 31: A robber was killed with the `gunshot fire of his own accomplice during a robbery attempt’ on Hafizabad Road here on Monday.

Police said two robbers, who came on two motorcycles, were busy looting passersby after setting up a picket. Picking up the courage, Rafi along with some other passersby overpowered one of the robbers. Quick on the trigger, the other robber opened fire on passersby to get released his accomplice. But he missed the target and the bullet hit his own accomplice who died in no time.

However, the accused managed to escape from the scene.

The deceased robber was identified as Aqeel of Gurokotha, Wazirabad. Police have shifted his body to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.Baghbanpura police have registered a case against the absconding robber.

BOYCOTT: The district bar association on Monday boycotted the court proceedings to protest ransacking of the Islamabad residence of deposed judge Khalilur Rahman Ramday.

Lawyers also held a meeting at the barroom which was chaired by bar president Malik Shauket Ali Awan.

The meeting also adopted a resolution demanding that those involved in the incident should be taken to task. They pledged to continue their movement till the restoration of all deposed judges.
