HYDERABAD, March 29: Bandits looted over rupees one million in a broad daylight bank robbery in the jurisdiction of Hussainabad police station here on Saturday.

Police said that around eight armed bandits struck at a branch of a private bank in the Public School, locked the staff in the bank’s strong room and made away with Rs10,947,947.

Eyewitnesses said that around seven strongly built bandits entered the bank while their accomplices waited outside probably in a land cruiser or a four doors vehicle.

They also deprived a woman customer of two gold bangles, a mobile phone and Rs5,000 cash, they said.

The bank branch had no close circuit TV cameras installed there. Sources in police said that normally the branch had no huge amounts available and blamed a leak to the bandits, helping them arrive on time and get away with the cash, which pertained to schools fees.

ABORTED ROBBERY: Armed bandits seriously injured a man when he resisted their bid to rob his shop in Noorani Basti in the jurisdiction of Pinyari police station on Saturday.

He was moved to Civil Hospital where he has been operated upon and admitted to intensive care unit.
