LAHORE, March 26: The Supreme Court Bar Association will participate in the lawyers’ rally staged every Thursday under the banner of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association.
Although some members of the Pakistan Bar Council have expressed reservations about the need for taking out rallies after the Murree Declaration, a majority of lawyers believe that it was imperative to keep the pressure up for the restoration of the deposed judges.
All three bars – the SCBA, the LHCBA and the LBA -- have issued calls for a complete boycott of court proceedings for Thursday (today) with an appeal to the lawyers to make their presence felt. Though the rally on last Thursday had shown its traditional enthusiasm, the participation was not up to the mark.
Before the rallies are taken out from the Aiwan-i-Adl and the Lahore High Court, both bars would hold their general house meetings and discuss among themselves the latest on political and legal fronts. Both the rallies would merge in front of the General Post Office and include members of the civil society, students and political workers of the Tehrik-i-Insaaf, the Khaksar Tehrik and the Labour Party.
