KHAIRPUR, March 26: With the start of summer, long duration power breakdowns for the past 15 days have paralysed people’s daily lives as they are unable to get drinking water while trade activities also been hit severely.

The activists of different social organisations and trade unions staged protest meetings against the power outages.

Traders, lawyers and labourers of the city and others held a protest meeting on Wednesday against the electricity loadshedding in Khairpur city which was carrying out for about 10 to 12 hours on daily basis.Later, talking to reporters, Anjuman-i-Tajiran Khairpur Chairman Qutbuddin Shaikh, DBA General Secretary Abdul Qayoom Shaikh and Muttahida Mazdoor Federation leader Amjad Lashari said that electricity went off three times during nights due to which people cannot even sleep in peace.

They said that people were unable to get drinking water because tube-wells supplying water did not work due to power outages. They demanded of the government to curb the electricity loadshedding and provide drinking water to them.—BoC
