PESHAWAR, March 22: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said tribal elders of the Frontier Region of Kohat will be taken on board while taking any decision about the law and order situation in Darra Adamkhel.

Presiding over a meeting to review the law and order situation in Kohat and its adjoining tribal areas during his visit to Kohat on Saturday, the governor said the elders’ opinion and suggestions for improving security would be given due consideration. Regional Coordination Officer Umar Khan Afridi, Kohat DCO Kamran Zeb, SSP Dr Waqar and the FR’s assistant political agent attended the meeting where the governor was given a briefing on the situation in the Kohat region, particularly in Darra Adamkhel. The RCO also briefed the governor about the law and order situation in the Hangu district and Orakzai and Kurram agencies.

The governor emphasised that the local elders should be taken into confidence while taking any move aimed at improving the law and order situation. He particularly directed the political administration of the Kohat FR to prepare an effective strategy for improving the law and order situation in close collaboration and consultation with the elders of the area.

KOHAT: Speaking as chief guest at the first convocation ceremony of the Kohat University of Science and Technology on Saturday, Mr Ghan said: “It is not less than a miracle that Pakistan has survived even after the 1971 partition, the prolonged Afghan war, internal and political instability and being a frontline state in the war on terror.”

He said the whole nation, especially the Pakhtuns, had suffered a lot in the continuing war and they had been braving all challenges and hardships because they derived courage and strength from Islam.

He observed that the survival of the nation was because of two things. First, Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and, therefore, its foundations were strong and second, its military capability.
