HYDERABAD, April 18: The convenor of Save Education and Literary Organizations Committee, Sindh, Mansoor Qadir Junejo, in a statement issued here on Thursday, welcomed the government decision to remove the chairman of the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) but said the problem could not be resolved unless his group was also removed.

He said that in addition to other measures, it was important to appoint an honest, judicious and impartial chairman to save the board.

He demanded that the employees who had been removed by force should be reinstated in service, the auction of the board should be stopped, the orders issued by the chairman while he was leaving the board should be cancelled, inquiry should be conducted into the purchase of paper for the board, valued at Rs150 million, and investigations should also be undertaken in respect of the books which were given to the favourite publishers for publication, for which the World Bank and UNICEF had provided Rs160 million.

Mr Junejo further demanded that investigations should also be conducted about the assets of ten employees and their properties, which had been allegedly purchased with the board’s money, and added that the same should be confiscated.

He said the publishers, who had deceived the board, should also be taken to task.
