GHALANAI: Four checkposts blown up in Mohmand Agency

GHALANAI, March 17: Four more Khasadar checkposts and a women skill development centre were blown up by unidentified militants in different areas of tehsil Khwazai, some 30 kilometres west of here, along the Afghanistan border on Monday. The Khasadar posts in different areas including Moharer post, Atta Bazar, Mamad Kor, Ashrafabad and Bahae Dag were blasted by unidentified militants, sources told Dawn.

Officials while confirming the incident said that concerned people and local maliks (tribal elders) would be fined under the territorial responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) for compensation.

It is for the first time that militants in the said tehsil had destroyed posts of Khasadar forces. About fourteen posts have already been blown up in tehsil Haleemzai, Safi and Pindiali so far.

Using explosives unidentified gunmen also rocked a women skill development center in Wazir Killi in the vicinity of Mohmand Agency headquarters, Ghalanai.

Local Taliban spokesperson Dr Asad denied any involvement in the happening and said that they had already stated that they would never take part in such activities.
