MUZAFFARGARH, March 13: Around 600 workers, including 300 daily wagers, of the Kot Addu Tehsil Municipal Administration took out a protest rally for keeping them without salaries for the last two months.
Parading on the main road near railway station, the protesting workers warned TMA high-ups of hunger strike if salaries were not paid to them.
TMO Chaudhry Abdul Sattar said he had sent several reminders to the secretary finance, Lahore, but to no avail.
He, however, said he hoped that salaries would be disbursed to workers after one week.
Tehsil Nazim Malik Rafiq Khar was unavailable for comments.
Meanwhile, health consultants recruited under the Health Sector Reforms Programme on a contract basis last year are still waiting for their salaries. In a memorandum to the Muzaffargarh DCO, the affected doctors said that they were unable to continue their services without salaries.
