Man kills sister

SANGHAR, March 11: A young woman was shot dead by her brother on the pretext of karo-kari near Khadro on Monday night.

The killer, Khair Mohammad Mari, 23, surrendered before the police with the pistol used in the crime.

Mohammad Urs Mari, the father of slain woman Sattan alias Malika, 20, told journalists that they felt no remorse as his son had saved family honour.

The family was neither accepting condolences nor performed burial rites.

Reports said that Sattan had eloped with a man of the area, Nazeer Ahmed Shar, the nazim of Preetamabad union council. She returned to her parents about a week ago on the assurances of the elders that she would not be harmed.

In another case, a young man, Ghulam Nabi Unnar of Hashim Unnar village, was hacked to death over karo-kari in the Chotiyarioon area.

Killer Rehmatullah alias Diloo surrendered before the police with the hatchet used in the crime.

The relatives of the deceased told the police that the accused called Unnar from home and took him to nearby wheat fields where he hacked him to death.
