Former ski jump champ retires

VIENNA, March 7: Olympic ski jump champion Andreas Widhoelzl, the last Austrian to win the prestigious Four Hills tournament in 2000, announced his retirement on Friday.

Widhoelzl was a member of the gold-medal winning Austrian team at the 2006 Turin Olympics and a double world champion in the team event in 2005.

The 31-year-old had not competed in a World Cup event for over a year.

He won 18 World Cup events during his career.—AFP
