SANGHAR, March 5: More than 2,400 wheat bags were found missing from the godown of Food Department in Jhol on Wednesday, along with the In-charge Food Inspector, Gangaram absent from his duties since seven days.
This was revealed during an inspection carried out by officials of Food Department in the presence of Mukhtiarkar (Revenue) Arshad Ibrahim, Shahdadpur on Wednesday.
An inspection was proposed on receiving misappropriation reports of wheat in huge quantity. The godown had been sealed. The Food Department said further audit of record and checking of stock would be carried out.
An FIR will also be lodged.
DISTRICT COUNCIL: The Sanghar District Council members expressed their resentment over the increase in fertilizer prices, here on Wednesday.
Murad Ali Nizamani, Umer Khan Khattak, Hashim Khaskheli, Ms Tahira and others said DAP and urea fertilizers were available at Rs850 and Rs450 respectively last year but today it were being sold at Rs2,750 and urea at Rs700, respectively.
They said it was a managed cartel established by mafia, while government had failed to control the prices of essential farm inputs.
