KARACHI, April 16: Five ships carrying containers and to load molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
Ship movements on the wharves were modest owing to slow arrivals and as a result, eight ships were berthed and sailed out, the berth occupancy at the oil piers being nil and that of dry berth was 44 per cent.
Four ships, Dainty River, Sima Kija, MOL Sincerity and Bunga Mas Satu were berthed to unload and load containers, while X-Press Dhaulagiri, Sagar, Ernst Rickmers and Shirvan sailed out.
Two others, Sima Kija and Dainty River are due to sail out on Wednesday after loading export cargoes in containers.
Owing to lesser handling of the liquid cargo, the total tonnage fell far below the daily average at 25,692 tons comprising 8,009 tons of export cargo including 841 tons of rice and 17,683 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: Asty Palea to load 16,500 tons of molasses, Al-Mariyah, Jamila, Leixoes and Kindia, with containers.
KARACHI, April 16: Two ships carrying chemicals and furnace oil were allotted berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and Fotco Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, says PQA press release on Tuesday.
Seven ships, Indradi, Azure, Tamu, Ipex Emperor, Mint Prosperity, Fortune Hira and Dooying Hope were busy in discharging general cargo, containers, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore respectively.
Cargo handling operations were conducted efficiently at the port and a cargo volume of 51,417 tons, exclusively of imports, was handled.

E-Trader carrying 49,752 tons iron ore was at the outer anchorage.
