RAWALPINDI, April 15: An army doctor beaten up and injured by the staff of a private bus company in Saddar, police said on Sunday.
In an FIR lodged with the Cantt Police, Dr Maj Mohammad Musa working at the Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, said he was coming from Taxila to Rawalpindi in a bus (IDS-7001). When the vehicle reached near the hospital, he asked the conductor, Mohammad Omer Hayat, to stop it, but he refused. At this, the complainant started knocking at the door. When the vehicle reached the GPO bus-stop, the conductor and Maj Musa started brawling. During the fight, the conductor bit the army doctor’s hand and dragged him into the vehicle. The bus was then taken to the company’s head office in Saddar where the major was allegedly detained.
“The complainant had been harassed in detention and injured,” a police officer at the cantt station said.
The army doctor said he produced his identification card before the bus terminal manager, identified in the FIR as Basharat, but he did not pay any heed.
Maj Musa, after being released, brought the incident to the notice of senior army officials which led to the registration of the FIR against the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far.
