PESHAWAR, Feb 29: Two people were killed and five others injured when two groups of property dealers exchanged fire in the Yakatut police area here on Friday.

Police said the groups of Mohammad Gul and Miangul had developed differences over property sale, which led to the armed clash. Mohammad Gul and a passerby Mir Rehman were killed.

The injured, Anwar Ali, Gauhar Ali, Asghar Ali, Miangul and Abdul Ali, were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital.

Police claimed that many people had been taken into custody but no one had so far been nominated in the case.

BOY RECOVERED: Police on Friday recovered a teenager, who had been kidnapped for ransom, from a house near Chargo Pul. One of the kidnappers was injured in the exchange of fire with police.

Shoaib, son of Ezat Khan, of Latifabad had been kidnapped from a barber shop by a gang allegedly led by Farid of Bashirabad. The kidnappers had demanded Rs500,000 for releasing the boy.

A police official said the kidnappers had come to a CNG filling station to receive the first installment of Rs50,000 of the ransom. As the accused received the money, police chased them. The accused fired on the police party near the Zaheer Plaza Mohmand CNG filling station on the Ring Road.

Farid was captured after he received bullet injuries when police retaliated. His accomplice, Bulbul, was also arrested. Police also recovered the ransom and a Kalashnikov and a pistol from the accused.

The police official said Farid was wanted to police in different criminal cases. He said two brothers of Farid, who were involved in criminal cases, had already been killed in encounters.
