LAHORE, Feb 27: The millers on Wednesday agreed to keep the flour price at current level of Rs275 per 20kg ex-mill price and Rs285 as retail price and subsequently take the price issue to the chief minister with whom they agreed to reduce price in the first place.

In a meeting with the chief secretary, the food department also agreed to rationalise wheat releases as demanded by the millers. The millers had maintained that the department was providing additional wheat to some areas and under supplying to others.

According to new arrangements, the department would provide 6,000 tons to Lahore and 4,500 tons to Rawalpindi and 37 bags per body to the mills in the rest of the province. Thus, the total releases would be around 18,300 tons, instead of 21,000 tons earlier.

The millers, on their part, agreed to suspend the price that they had threatened on Tuesday and instead take the matter to the chief minister, with whom they agreed in the first place.

In addition to that, they were some procedural problems, said one of the participants, which the chief secretary promised to take care of and make supplies more smoother.
