Police claim Busting 248 gangs in Jan

LAHORE, Feb 24: Punjab police busted 248 gangs besides recovering loot worth Rs67 million across the province last month.

This was told in a meeting presided over by IG Ahmad Nasim at the Central Police Office, says a handout issued on Sunday. Additional IGs and other senior police officers also attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the pace of operation carried out against organised criminal gangs and took decisions in this regard.

The meeting was informed that the rate of crime had been reduced owing to the “effective steps and integrated mobile patrolling of police.”

Addressing the meeting, the IG directed the field police officers to continue the operation vigorously against anti-social elements.

He also directed them to take action against the criminals irrespective of their social status, so that the life and property of the people could be protected.

He appreciated the performance of the Punjab police for maintaining law and order on the eve of general elections.

The IG also expressed his satisfaction over the “impartial role” of police officials on polling day. — APP
