MIRPURKHAS, Feb 24: A rally was taken out on Sunday from the Thar bus stand in Umerkot town in protest against alleged poll rigging in Tharparkar district.
Led by Mumtaz Rahimoon and Sikiladho Rahimoon, the protesters carrying banners and placards, marched on the main roads and later reached the press club where they raised slogans against the Arbabs and called upon the government to take notice of what they termed massive rigging in election in Tharparkar.
Talking to newsmen, they said that the election in NA-230, PS-20 and PS-63 of Tharparkar district, were massively rigged by men of the Arbabs.
They alleged that theses people had occupied the polling stations on Feb 17 and stuffed ballot boxes with bogus votes in favour of PML-Q candidates. They said because of aerial firing outside the polling stations, people could not go to cast their apprehending clashes. They demanded of the election commissioner to order re-election in the district.
CLASH: Two PPP activists were injured in a clash between supporters of PPP and PML-Q in the union council Makhan Samoon in Mirpurkhas taluka on Sunday night.
The rivals freely used sticks and stones causing injuries to Muhammad Yaseen and Devji Kolhi who were taken to hospital. No case was lodged till the filing of this report.
