Buddhist varsity site to be opened

GILGIT, April 13: The archaeological site of the most ancient Buddhist University Phoughch, Darel, will be opened for foreign tourists.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Force Commander of Northern Areas Major-General Nadeem Ahmad.

The Phoughch University used to be a very important University of the Buddhism, where in ancient times students and tourists from China and Japan used to come. It was a centre of excellence for Ghandhara intelligentsia.—APP
