DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 21: A senior commandant of the border military police (BMP) has taken note of the alleged involvement of BMP officials in poll rigging and directed them to keep away from polling stations seeing re-poll on Saturday (Feb 23).
The commandant, who is also the district coordination officer, issued these directions after a candidate from NA-171 alleged that BMP officials helped a Pakistan Muslim League-Q candidate rig the election on Feb 18.
BMP jamadars Altaf Buzdar, Rizam Khosa, Umer Buzdar and Maqbool Buzdar and naib dafedar Mumtaz have been directed to keep away from certain polling stations on Feb 23. Resaldar Waqar Qaisrani was also questioned by the authorities for his alleged involvement in the rigging.
BMP Commandant Naeem Bhatti said these officials would remain at the police lines in Dera Ghazi Khan on the re-poll day.
