GUJRANWALA, Feb 11: The teachers union has threatened to stage a hunger strike camp outside the education and accounts offices if two-month salaries of 421 English teachers are not paid within three days.
At a meeting held here on Sunday, union leaders Arif Mahar, Arif Khokher and other said the government appointed graduate English teachers at government primary schools, but most of them later deputed at elementary and secondary schools by the education department. They said that non-payment of salaries had landed the teachers into a financial crunch.
When contacted, the accounts officer said that the salaries would be disbursed among the teachers shortly.
