KARACHI, April 11: The residents of Gulshan-i-Hadid often remain deprived of electricity and water in this hot and sultry weather. A week earlier electricity remained off for four days.

The residents have appealed to the Nazim Karachi for solving their power problem.

Daily loadshedding for over 14 hours badly affects more than 2000 houses of Gulshan-i-Hadid situated in Bin Qasim Town. The residents also suffer water shortage during these hours as pumping stations cannot work without power.

Electricity was supplied to these areas in 1992 by just throwing cables in the open on both side of the roads, which have now decayed and rusted due to rains, heat of sun and frequent diggings by different civic agencies, thereby causing cable faults off and on.

According to the complaints officer, KESC complaint centre of Gulshan-i- Hadid, Shah Muhammad Soomro, there are nine substations under their jurisdiction.

Since there is no feeder in the area, power has to be switched off. The relay work of the power cables has begun and the problem of loadshedding will soon be over.—PPI
