KARACHI, April 11: Five ships carrying general cargo, containers and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.
Ship movements at the wharves were maintained on the higher side as over a dozen ships were berthed and sailed out, raising the berth occupancy well above the average daily figure.
The ships, which were berthed included Leixoes, Jamila, Lanka Mahapola and Gillian to unload and load containers, Sponsalis and Sun Niva to offload high speed diesel and chemicals respectively.
Six vessels, Wan Hai-231, Mildburg, MSC Camille, Honor River, Jamila, Hua Shan and Team Actinia sailed out, while Sun Niva, Winco Feeder, Sponsalis, Leixoes and Lanka Mahapola are due to depart on Friday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 90,850 tons comprising 20,819 tons of export cargo and 70,031 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Chitral, with 9,000 tons of general cargo, Nur Yanbu, with 3,000 tons of chemicals, Shirvan, with 60,000 tons of crude oil, Al-Wajba and Kota Ratu, with containers.
