Two die from biting cold

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 6: Two people died from cold here on Wednesday in Yazman.

Reports said a gypsy, Noor Muhammad (70), was sleeping in his tent near Chak No 70-DB. When some family member served him meal, Noor was found dead.

In another incident, one Saleh Muhammad fell a victim to cold at Chak No.28 near Yazman.

Both were taken to private doctors, who pronounced them dead.

BURIED ALIVE: Two people were buried alive at Chak No.148-DNB near Head Rajkan in Yazman tehsil, about 30km from here on Tuesday.

Reports said Allah Bakhsh and Khalid were repairing the under-ground tube-well machinery of Chaudhry Sarwar. As they were busy in the work, a heap of sand fell on them. Later, their bodies were retrieved from the tube-well.

CHOLISTAN: There was heavy rain in Cholistan desert on Tuesday night. Reports said hailstorm also hit some scattered areas in Yazman tehsil on Tuesday night. Several dried-up ponds and ‘tobas’ filled up with rainwater. More rain has been forecast.

The Bahawalpur city also experienced chilly weather on Wednesday with intermittent drizzling.
