Seven die, 18 hurt on road

VEHARI, April 10: Seven people, including a woman, were killed while 18 others sustained injuries on road in different parts of the Punjab on Tuesday night.

The Rajanpur-bound wagon (MNW-5675) collided head-on with the coach (DIK-3994) while trying to overtake a vehicle near Fazalpur locality, Multan-Rajanpur Road.

Five people died on the spot. They included driver Muhammad Ibrahim, Allah Bakhsh,

Sher Muhammad and Ms Naseem.

The injured were admitted to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, in precarious condition. They are identified as Ghulam Shabbir, Nazir Ahmad, Mansab Ali, Mohsin Illyas, Mian Ahmad Nasim, Abdul Rahim, Shahid Iqbal, Arshad Ahmad, Naseem bibi and Sheri bibi.

Police are investigating.

In Mian Channu, an oil-tanker dashed against a stationary wagon (DED-4944) coming from Multan. The wagon overturned, claiming two lives. Those died were Abid Husain and Abdul Majeed.

Eight people sustained injuries and were taken to the Mian Channu Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

The injured are identified as Muhammad Akram, Ali Raza, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Shafiq, Zubaida, Razi, Salma and Asiya.

Investigation is underway.
