LAHORE, Jan 30: Punjab Police Inspector General Ahmad Nasim has directed all field police officers of the province not to allow storage or manufacture of fireworks in any inhabited area.
In an order issued here on Wednesday from the Central Police Office, all police higher authorities have been directed to strictly comply with the instructions and submit a compliance report in this regard to the CPO within a week.
The officials have been directed to obtain certificates from station house officers and supervisory officers that there were no firework storehouses or any businesses of this sort in their areas. Station house officers and SDPOs will be responsible for any incident relating to fireworks in their areas.
Separately, Capital City Police Officer Malik Muhammad Iqbal directed divisional superintendents of police to launch a crackdown on people dealing in fireworks and those involved in aerial firing, kite flying and making of lethal kite string.
According to a circular issued here, Iqbal said all divisional superintendents would be responsible for implementing these orders in letter and spirit. He said action would be taken against station house officers and explanation would be sought from supervisory police officers if any such incident was reported in their areas. — Staff Reporter
