PESHAWAR, Jan 29: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad called on Peshawar High Court deposed Chief Justice Tariq Pervez here at his residence on Tuesday.
Later on talking to journalists the JI chief said that general elections could not be free and fair unless pre-November 3 judiciary was restored. He urged the masses to rise against the dictatorial region and take part in the movement for the independence of judiciary.
He said that people should strengthen hands of the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who had launched movement for the supremacy of constitution and judiciary.“People should support Justice Chaudhry and lawyers,” he maintained. He said that the government had planned large scale rigging in the polls that was why All Parties Democratic Movement had boycotted the process.
He urged other mainstream political parties including PPP and PML-N to boycott the process. He also demanded formation of an interim set up and an independent election commission to conduct free and fair polls.
