LAHORE, Jan 24: First class magistrates-cum-sub-registrars will ensure flour supply at the fixed prices in six out of the nine towns of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL).

According to a directive by district nazim Mian Amer, Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad will look after flour affairs in Ravi Town, Malik Abdul Waheed in Shalamar Town, Iqbal Mazhar in Data Gunj Bakhsh Town, Moeen Ahmad Chaudhry in Aziz Bhatti Town, Aftab Majeed in Iqbal Town and Sadaf Mairaj Butt in Nishtar Town.

However, teams comprising Rangers would only be responsible for ample flour availability at fixed price of Rs15 per kilo in Gulberg, Samanabad and Wagah towns.

Some 20 CDGL squads had already been constituted for the purpose while flour was being dispatched to 40 places and 32 special spots on a regular basis.

Vehicles carrying flour bags were also being sent to union councils in rural areas of Lahore.

Arrangements were also under way to standardise the weight of ‘roti’ and ‘naan’ at a price of Rs4 each.

“No one will be allowed to increase the price of either roti or naan on the pretext of hike in flour price,” the nazim said, claiming that all obstacles in the smooth flour supply had been overcome.
