LAHORE, Jan 23: The minimum temperature in the city increased from Tuesday’s -2.2 degrees Celsius to zero on Wednesday because of a strong wind, but still it was cold enough for Lahorites.

Elsewhere in the country the cold wave, persisting for the third consecutive day, kept temperatures low to new record levels in many cities.

The Met Office said strong wind increased the minimum temperature in Lahore on Tuesday night as it reduced the frosting factor. But, the cold wave would continue to persist for another four days, it added.

The maximum temperature was 16.1 degrees Celsius as even a bright sunny day could not match the impact of polar wind.

The minimum temperature in Murree was -7 degrees Celsius, in Islamabad -1.5, in Sialkot and Okara -1 and in Mianwali -3 degrees Celsius.

Kalam was still the coldest place in the country with a minimum temperature of -16 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Hunza -14 degrees Celsius, Malamjabba -12, Drosh -9.2, Gupis -9, Parachinar and Skardu -6.5 each, Quetta -6, and Rawlakot -5.
