JACOBABAD, Jan 22: A team of senior officers of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), including Azad Khan and Sarwar Khan Sahib from Islamabad and Sukkur region’s General Manager Zafarullah Murwat, visited the Jacobabad Telephone Exchange which was burnt in recent violence following the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
The team discussed with local PTCL officials matters related to renovation of the exchange and establishment of a digital exchange in Jacobabad.
Mr Marwat told this correspondent that the loss to the PTCL exchange ran into billions of rupees.
He said there were about 5,000 telephone connections in the city and they would be restored by Jan 30.—Correspondent
