KHANEWAL, Jan 19: Two men were killed in a crossfire between two groups over a ‘minor dispute’ in 140/10-R village of Jahanian tehsil on Saturday evening.
Two groups of the Randhawa clan had a tussle over the membership of a community health committee that was being formed by the district health department. “Both groups were trying to dominate the committee,” Jahanian Station House Officer Chaudhry Zakaullah told Dawn on phone. He said both groups first quarrelled over the issue and then traded fire, killing Muhammad Fayyaz and Muhammad Tahir at the scene.
“We have arrested one of the accused, Muhammad Yaqoob, and are trying to arrest the others involved in the shootout,” Zakaullah said.
