KARACHI, Jan 16: Three ships scheduled to load and offload containers, edible oil and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multipurpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal, respectively, on Tuesday.
Two more container ships are also anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was 60 per cent on Tuesday where seven ships, CV Nedlloyed Europa, CV Maersk Virginia, CV MSC Lucia, MV Leopard-B, MT Venus-7, MV Aviona and MT Elegant Virginia, are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, edible oil, wheat and diesel oil, respectively, during the report period.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the port on Tuesday where a cargo volume of 0.111 million tons, comprising 0.090 million tons imports and 0.021 million tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,669 containers (TEUs), was handled during the last 24 hours.
MT New Toyokaze and CV Maersk Virginia sailed out to sea on Tuesday afternoon.
Five ships, CV Nedlloyed Europa, CV MSC Lucia, MV Leopard-B, MT Venus-7 and MT Elegant Virginia, are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Four ships, CV Qatri Ibn Fujaa, CV Inori, MV City Of Dubrovnik and MT Al-Soor-II, are expected to take berths at the Container Terminal, the Multipurpose Terminal and the FOTCO Terminal, respectively, on the same day.
CV Dubai Express, CV KIA Al-Waleed, MV John, MT Eastern Tera and MT Sinar Agra, carrying containers, wheat and chemicals, are due at Port Qasim on Thursday.—APP
