GUJRANWALA, Jan 15: District Returning Officer (DRO) Nazir Ahmad Ganjana, while taking up a petition by a PML-N aspirant on Tuesday, has summoned the city police officer (CPO) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials to explain charges of facilitating PML-Q candidate’s electioneering and their involvement in “pre-poll rigging”.
DIG Khadim Hussain Bhatti, SNGPL regional manager Liaqat Bhatti and development in-charge Ehsansul Haq Bhatti were told to appear before court on Wednesday (today) to reply the petition filed by former federal minister and PML-N candidate for NA-99, Rana Nazir Ahmad.
Rana Nazir said his rival candidate, Rana Shamshad Ahmad Khan, of the PML-Q had got posted SHO Zahid Shah at Wahando just three days ago. The petitioner said the SHO was supporting the PML-Q candidate by arresting PML-N workers without any justification and just to harass them.
He said the SNGPL regional manager and other officers were busy in Rana Shamshad’s electioneering, and they had stopped ongoing development work on his directives in those areas where he (Shamshad) thought he might not fetch support and instead the voters would support the PML-N’s candidate (Nazir).
